Speaker's Profile

Adolfo Melara, proud father of two wonderful sons, Rudy and Jacob, serves as the President of the Association for the Advancement of Mexican Americans (AAMA) in Houston, Texas. Mr. Melara also serves as the superintendent of AAMA’s charter schools. With 10 years of superintendent experience working with teachers, administrators, staff, and parents on behalf of children in California and Texas, Mr. Melara is committed to ensuring students have the academic and social and emotional support they need to thrive in school and in life. As an educator, Mr. Melara has worked at every level of the school system, from teacher-assistant to superintendent. Additionally, Mr. Melara has supported teachers and administrators as an instructional coach. As an immigrant and English learner, originally from El Salvador, Mr. Melara has a deep personal understanding of the struggles many of our students face daily in our educational system and has dedicated his life’s work to serving children. A life-long learner, Mr. Melara holds a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership.
