Founding Partner, GreyMatter

About Me

Danish Munir is a healthcare entrepreneur and investor. He currently serves as Founding Partner of GreyMatter Capital, a venture firm dedicated to advancing innovation in mental and behavioral health. Previously, Danish founded 1DocWay (later known as Genoa Telepsychiatry) in 2011, as one of the first Telemedicine mental health companies to achieve scale. Over the next 9 years Danish and his co-founders scaled the business and led it through multiple acquisitions, ultimately running the business inside of Optum / United Health. When Danish left Genoa it was treating 250,000 patient visits a year in 35+ States.

Prior to building GreyMatter, he was an active early stage investor having backed over 25 companies through Watershed Ventures which he co-founded. He still serves actively as a Venture Partner  and serves on the Investment Committee at Watershed.

In the past, Danish has worked at Microsoft, solving online safety problems using data science and machine learning, Lehman Brothers and JP Morgan.

Having founded a company as an immigrant and a Muslim, Danish enjoys working and supporting founders who are "outsiders" and coming off the beaten path.

Danish graduated from University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelors in Economics and concentration in Finance from The Wharton School of Business and a Bachelors in Engineering in Computer Science Engineering. Danish grew up in Karachi and calls both Karachi and New York home.
