Chief Health Officer, Cherry Creek School District
Michelle Weinraub is a pediatric nurse with over 30 years of experience in public health. She started her career as a clinical social worker supporting senior adults and preschoolers, but decided to continue her education and became a registered nurse. She earned her master’s in nursing education and is a board-certified school nurse.
Michelle joined Cherry Creek Schools (CCSD), Colorado’s fourth largest school district, in 2010, where she has worked as a clinical nurse, nurse administrator and now serves as Chief Health Officer. As CHO she supports over 200 mental health providers, 85 registered nurses and supports all district health programs, including school-based community health centers, student wellness, health outreach, McKinney Vento, and the school Medicaid program. The CCSD Office of Student Health was created in 2021 in a meaningful effort to combine all the health aspects of CCSD’s students, including their mental health, their physical health and their wellness--no matter where they fall on the health and wellness spectrum. The goals of her amazing team are to provide and improve access for all 54,000 students ages 6 weeks-21+ with a focus on developing authentic healthcare partnerships, eliminating barriers for children and families, implementing 21 st century evidence based care while creating real opportunities for culturally responsive and true relational care. The Student Health team is committed to doing this by incorporating student voice, utilizing technology that meets children and families where they are, and by not being afraid to try new things that can benefit our most important stakeholders: our students.
She is married to Mitch, who she met the first week of college orientation back in the day, and they are the proud parents to two amazing young women, both alumna of Cherry Creek Schools.
