About Me

Rawle Andrews Jr., Esq. is the executive director of the APA Foundation (APAF), the philanthropic arm of the American Psychiatric Association (APA). Founded in 1844, the APA is the oldest medical association in the United States and the largest psychiatric association in the world. Rawle also is the president of the Rotary Club Howard West (MD; Rotary International-District 7620); a past, two-term president of the Bar Association of the District of Columbia (BADC); a member of the Thurgood Marshall Center Trust Board of Directors; a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation; a Founding Member, CHC Leadership Council for Healthier Communities (LCHC); a member, HOSA-100 International Advisory Council; and the national chairman of the Public Policy Committee of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He also has held adjunct professorships at Georgetown University and the Howard University School of Law. Rawle is a graduate of Houston-St. Thomas High School; Texas Southern University; the Howard University School of Law; and he holds an executive leadership certificate from the Georgetown University McDonough School of Business. Rawle’s commendations for servant leadership include: a 2022 U.S. Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award for Volunteer Service; the 2026 Action Award, the Don’t MiND Me Foundation; a 2026 Hidden Hero Award, Project Blackbird; the 2025 Inductee, Houston-St. Thomas High School (TX) Hall of Honor; a 2024 Huntsman Honors Awardee for Mental Health Advocacy & Outreach; the 36th recipient of the Lamont H. Lawson Award, the Washington, D.C. Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.; a 2018 Distinguished Leadership Award, the National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE); the 2016 Decatur W. Trotter National Humanitarian Award, the National Association of Black Veterans (NABVETS); and the 2006 D.C. Bar’s Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year Award.
