Senior Vice President for Specialty and Retiree Solutions, Humana
Mike Tilton, Senior Vice President for Specialty and Retiree Solutions, joined Humana in 2021. Since joining Humana, Mike has led the South Region markets, served in a shared leadership role for the Employer Group segment, and was recently named the head of the new Specialty organization, leading P&L and strategy for dental, vision, life, disability and Wellness(Go365) amongst other lines of business. He also leads the P&L’s for both Group Medicare and Medicare Supplement. Additionally, he is actively involved in special projects to reduce costs and bolster growth at both the segment and enterprise level. These combined businesses represent over $8B in revenue.
Mike brings more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare, pharmaceutical, wellness, health outcomes and health benefits industries. Prior to joining Humana, he served as General Manager of the Commercial Segment for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona where he led a statewide team across Product, Operations, Group Sales, Finance and Underwriting. Mike and his team delivered over $2B in revenue, consistently exceeding the annual plan across all lines of business. He also established and led a new business unit to develop product, marketing and distribution strategies for the company’s Specialty product portfolio. Under Mike’s leadership, the company experienced its highest net membership growth in its 80-year history, a quadrupling of Medicare Advantage enrollment and doubling of Specialty product revenue. In addition to these responsibilities, he served as a board member and advisor to Consortium Health Plans(CHP) as well as strategy for GeoBlue. Prior to this role, he was BCBS Arizona’s Chief Sales Officer and held posts at UnitedHealth Group, Cigna and GlaxoSmithKline where he worked with the Global Health Outcomes team and lead the Managed Care contracting team.
Mike received a BA in Marketing from Virginia Wesleyan University and is a graduate of the Wharton Executive Development Program.
