Dr. Thomas Tsang currently serves as Chief Strategy Officer and was the founding CEO of Valera Health, a VC backed mental health company delivering high quality behavioral health services for patients across the severity spectrum ranging from depression to schizophrenia. Valera is in-network for over 90 million covered lives. Valera Health was named one of the top digital health companies by Digital Health New York and FAST Company.
Dr. Tsang was the former Chief Medical Officer at Healthcare Services and Solutions, a Merck wholly owned subsidiary focused on commercializing digital solutions “around the pill”. Prior to Merck, he was part of the legislative team that crafted the Affordable Care Act on the Committee on Ways and Means through the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation/ Institute of Medicine Health Policy Fellowship. Dr. Tsang also contributed to the development of ACO regulations along with the development of a national framework for the use of health information technology and electronic health records to improve coordination and quality as Medical Director at the Office of the National Coordinator for HIT under the Obama administration. He started his career as Chief Medical Officer work at Charles B. Wang, a Federally Qualified Health Center and served on the Board of Health for NYC under the Bloomberg administration. He currently sits on the board for BCBS Kansas City and is actively involved with two non-profits- AIRnyc and Callen-Lorde Health Center. He recently joined the National Committee for Quality Assurance as a member of the Committee on Performance Measurement.
