Chris Hemphill believes the right decisions in data science and AI can help serve & uplift those who society neglects. As Sr. Director of Commercial Intelligence at Woebot Health, Chris uncovers deep insights about human suffering and support through blended quantitative and qualitative methods. Chris has lead efforts combining health equity and AI to mitigate bias from healthcare algorithms, and this work is recognized by institutions like Chicago Booth’s Center for Applied AI and NYU’s McSilver Institute for Poverty Policy Research.  Chris stresses that this work isn’t just about algorithms, it’s about the people and financial structures around them. Outside of Woebot, they currently serve as the NYU McSilver Fellow for Healthcare AI & Health Equity and as a judge for Greystone’s Healthcare Internet Hall of Fame.  When not doing this work, Chris loves synthesizers, running, and spicy seafood!
