About Me

Dr. Jenna Carl, Ph.D., is Chief Medical Officer at Big Health, where she advances the company’s clinical, regulatory, & reimbursement strategies and industry-leading body of clinical evidence that validates the safety and efficacy of its digital mental health programs for insomnia, anxiety, and depression. Responsible for a team of clinicians, researchers, medical affairs, policy, and regulatory experts, Dr. Carl leads Big Health’s development of digital programs for high prevalence, poorly treated mental health conditions. In August 2024, she obtained FDA clearances for SleepioRx and DaylightRx, digital treatments for insomnia and generalized anxiety disorder, respectively. She was also the clinical architect for DaylightRx. A practicing clinical psychologist and researcher who specializes in anxiety, depression, insomnia, and related mental health disorders, she has developed multiple novel cognitive behavioral treatments (CBT), including both in-person and digital treatments. Dr. Carl has authored over 35 peer-reviewed publications, and has presented her research at leading international and national conferences. She previously served as Chair of the APA’s Division 12 Presidential Task Force on the integration of technology and mental health treatment. Dr. Carl obtained her doctorate in clinical psychology from Boston University. She trained at the Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders at Boston University; Massachusetts General Hospital; Harvard Medical School; and the VA Health System’s National Center for Innovation to Implementation.
