Ms. Jennifer Butler currently serves as the SC Department of Mental Health’s Director of Public Education. As a 28-year social work professional, she is trained in numerous evidenced-based therapy models focused on decreasing distress and increasing resilience. She is also a Social Work Adjunct Professor for two SC universities in their Master of Social Work Programs. She is a certified instructor of numerous prevention, intervention and postvention best practices related to decreasing suicide and increasing the quality of life for those living with acute and chronic symptoms. Having trained in Critical Incident Stress Training and Debriefing for Individuals and Groups, she also provides these services across the state. Governor Henry McMaster presented the Order of the Silver Crescent to Ms. Butler at the South Carolina Suicide Prevention Coalition’s quarterly meeting on September 22, 2021. The Order of the Silver Crescent, South Carolina’s most prestigious service award, recognizes those who have made significant contributions to the life and well-being of the state and nation.
