Speaker's Profile

Sara is the mother of two adolescent boys, one neurotypical and the other with autism, OCD, and ADHD. Finding meaningful, quality care for her son - and her entire family - has been a decade-long struggle. Sara is a deep believer in the power of storytelling to connect and heal. She has published several essays about being an ordinary mother trying her best to parent an extraordinary child. Professionally, Sara manages a portfolio of philanthropic investments supporting youth mental health at Pivotal Ventures, a company founded by Melinda French Gates to advance social progress for women and families. She has two BAs from the University of Washington and an MA from New York University. She lives in Seattle.
