Description:

Teens and young adults — especially Black, Brown, and Queer young people — bring their own unique lived experiences to social media spaces and, as a result, have different experiences with the content and communities they find there. The new National Survey developed by Hopelab and Common Sense Media highlights that while social media continues to pose risks, it also plays a beneficial role in supporting the mental health and well-being of young people, especially those from marginalized communities.

Hear from young people involved in the research and youth mental health advocates as they discuss the nuanced relationship young people have with social media, AI, and digital mental health tools. Learn about how Hopelab and Common Sense Media prioritized youth co-creation to develop the National Survey and the importance of creating policies at the federal and state levels that are developed together with young people using evidence that highlights their lived experience on these platforms.
